Last week I ran a 10k and that is my longest distance to date. I'm afraid that I may have injured my knees because they still feel inflamed. The pain goes away after my first half mile and will be fine during the run but after my runs, my knees get really stiff. Any suggestions or thoughts? I haven't been able to run a lot so I've been swimming and biking. I still got a couple small runs in though.
What part of your knees hurt? Outside, inside, front, back?
ReplyDeletewhat kind of shoes do you run in? need to check out your form too. Active had a video by Mark Allen on good running form. Might want to track that down...
ReplyDeleteGrab a friend, a video camera, and a good book on running. Have them record you doing easy and moderate 200m or 400m repeats. After the first two repeats, use the following focal points for one repeat each:
ReplyDelete* leaning forward
* landing softly (silently)
* toes in (like a duck)
* toes out (like a penguin)
Find the one that alleviates discomfort and brings the smoothest rhythm, then get recorded for 2 more repeats, trying to hold that feeling.
Or, just find a running coach.
